With UK Local Authority Building Control (LANTAC) Certification for domestic dwellings for three-and-a-half stories (room-in-the-roof), the Mantle Building System provides a cost effective, highly insulative thermal shell for builders/contractors/developers in the housing market, with a 10-year structural warranty from Zurich Insurance Company Building Guarantee, which can be extended for a further five years by the occupiers.

    
   

Premier Building Guarantees are also available. Further design parameters can easily be met through the use of a structural engineer.

The design values below are as part of a design specification to meet LANTAC System Build Certification for a single domestic three-and-a-half storey dwelling with extremely comfortable margins. For specific designs, please contact this office.

  

Certification Design Values include:

  • Racking tests to BS-EN 594: 5.25kN/m to 6.51kN/m depending on fastening method.
  • Roof bending tests to BS-EN 380: Moment capacity 5.68kN/m long-term duration, Stiffness capacity EI 125x109Nmm2.
  • Roof creep tests to BS-EN 789: 1.5mm at Total Load of 2kN/m (1/360=3.056mm).
  • Concentric Vertical Load: 43kN per metre run, long term duration.
  • Eccentric Vertical Load to BS-EN 380: 20kN per metre run, long term duration.

Structural Engineering

 

Normal working loads for the panels may be increased to the following values with design-specific agreement from a structural engineer:

  • Panel in Bending - 6.12 kNm using timber soleplates
  • Racking - 5.25 kN/m of panel using timber soleplates
  • Ring Beam in Bending - 7.12 kNm

Axial Load

  • Concentric - 77 kN/m
  • Eccentric -  35 kN/m

 

With regard to using Panels as the Floor Deck.

 

  • Loading with supports at 2.4m centres - 7.1 kN/m2
  • Loading with supports at 1.2m centres - 28.3 kN/m2
