Raw Materials The manufacture of HD-EPS is a low pollution process as defined by all regulatory and rating bodies. Steam is the key ingredient and the water is re-used many times. There is no waste in the process as all cut off or rejects are re-used. Styrene, used in the manufacture of EPS, occurs naturally in many commonplace products including strawberries, beans, nuts, beer, wine, coffee beans and cinnamon.
The facings (skins; outer coverings) of our products have a large percentage of recycled wood shavings, stripped into tiny fibrous elements, making our external boards very environmentally responsible. |

Everyone now knows that we are experiencing Climate Change, and that 300 years of manufacturing, heating homes and fueling our way of life is the greatest cause of this. We at Mantle decided from the outset to pursue environmentally responsible product development and manufacturing prior to Climate Change becoming a household topic. |

Manufacturing Capital equipment involved in manufacturing is designed to be recyclable, and requsitioning of all equipment meets the ISO 14000 series standards.
Waste material not for recycling within a Mantle factory is returned to the original manufacturers to be either re-used or recycled within their manufacturing processes. |

Production
The production process is neither energy nor labour intensive, with an incredibly low amount of shipping waste being sent to site.
As significantly fewer components are required on site, less delivery trucks are used (thereby reducing energy requirements) and less disruption to the site environs are experienced.
Site waste is minimal, saving lots of skips-worth of waste being sent to landfill sites.
Pallets and protection pads used in shipping are returned to the factory for re-use. |

LifeCycle
Durability requirements having been met, the beneficial LifeCycle ratings are clearly easily understood, giving our building system an A+ rating by all parties that have undertaken such studies.
A general consensus is required by the industry and enforced by regulators on how the various industries can all use one rating methodology that all can agree to.
Our clients advise us that our ratings whether through BREAM, LEEDS, et al are highly advantageous to their developments. |
